Continuing Competence Workshop for Physical Therapists
A Holistic Approach to the Treatment of the Musculoskeletal System
Elijah Carter, PT assists practitioners in gaining a holistic perspective for the assessment and treatment of the musculoskeletal system. He also helps practitioners to use this holistic assessment and treatment on themselves in self-care. This holistic perspective that he teaches places great emphasis on you the practitioner, because if your energy field is balanced and harmonious then you are in a much better position to provide quality care. And that is when we are able to transform healthcare, which is another aspect of what The Evolving Practitioner is strongly aligned with.
Have you ever felt that there was something missing in your training? Or have you perhaps taken hours of continuing competence classes without finding what you are looking for?
In this course Elijah is going to expose some of the false beliefs you may have about being a PT. You may think that your job has to be stressful or that you have to get rid of something, your patient’s pain or musculoskeletal problem in order to fix it.
In this CCU course you will learn another approach, a Holistic Approach. Holism refers to the concept that we are more than the sum of our parts. Most PTs are trying to fix the parts instead of looking at the whole being.
Here are some of the learning objectives of this course:
- You will gain a functional knowledge of the meridian system and experience its influence on all the systems of the body.
- The treatment process consists of a 4 step process including manually stimulating the muscles through meridian opening movements that we will train you in.
- We will show you that with a little practice you can in 15 minutes assess yourself with objective measurements and give yourself a holistic treatment that addresses the body, mind and spirit.
- Grounded in objective measurements of structural alignment and function this approach will present an opportunity to determine the effects of thoughts and emotions from the mind on the physical body.
You might say why would I want to travel all to The Big Island to do this course when you could take a course online? The answer is that this course is experiential, interactive and it is a kinesthetic learning.
